Crash claims life in Las Vegas

A second person has died after the small airplane she was riding in crashed on a Silverado Ranch neighborhood road earlier this month.

Susan Touchet, who was riding in the front passenger seat next to her husband, pilot Douglas Touchet, died Tuesday, Louisiana newspaper Vermilion Today reported. Her husband died in the wreck.

The plane had departed Henderson Executive Airport Sept. 6 but was unable to gain altitude after takeoff, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The Touchets had been in Las Vegas over the Labor Day weekend with another couple -- Tamika and Randall Savoy -- who were riding in the back of the plane when it crashed. Randall Savoy is in critical condition and his wife is in fair condition, both at University Medical Center

Naperville, IL—A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a sport utility vehicle Friday evening, September 10, 2010. The deadly accident occurred on Chicago Avenue, located west of Naper Boulevard, according to information provided by the Daily Herald.

Reports indicated 39-year-old Denver J. Hinkle was operating his 2005 Ducati when he sideswiped a red 2003 Ford Explorer. Upon colliding with the SUV at about 5:54 p.m., Hinkle lost control of his motorcycle and swerved into a curb.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were seemingly dispatched to the scene to rush Hinkle to Naperville-based Edward Hospital. Sadly, his traumatic injuries eventually proved fatal. The unidentified driver of the Explorer was not hurt.

Officials from the Naperville Police Department alleged “excessive speed and alcohol use by Hinkle” contributed to the accident.

Nonetheless, police are asking all witnesses or individuals with information concerning the wreck to contact the department’s traffic unit at (630) 305-5285.

According to information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Encyclopedia, there were 5,312 biker fatalities reported in the U.S. during the year 2008. A total of 135 of those motorcyclists lost their lives in accidents within the state of Illinois.

A DMV worker injured in driving test crash in Los Angeles

Legal news for California automobile accident attorneys.  A DMV worker was hospitalized following a crash during a driving test.

California automobile accident attorneys alert- A DMV driving test crash injured a driving test administer.

Los Angeles, CA—A driving test didn’t turn out so great for the test-taker, the DMV employee or the DMV building after a man lost control during his driving test and slammed into the side of the DMV building. The crash occurred around 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 26,  2010 at the Department of Motor Vehicle office on Painter Avenue, as reported by KTLA.

The driver, Lucas Holliday said when he was pulling out of the driveway while taking his driving test, he stepped on the gas instead of hitting the brakes. The car then crashed into the building, causing the front bumper to separate from the car, a front tire to deflate and the air bags to deploy. Witnesses stated that it appeared the car was traveling at 10 to 15 mph at the time of the wreck.

The DMV examiner was taken to a local hospital by responding emergency crews for observation. It was not disclosed what types of injuries the DMV test administrator sustained.  Some believe that the DMV worker hit his head on the windshield during impact.  Officials did not state what the estimates were for the damage sustained to the building.

Holliday plans to retake the driving test.
